How you look is completely up to you.
Follow what feels right.
If looking on the internet doesn’t sit well, then go to offline media. Pick up your local/national paper. I guarantee there will be ad’s in there looking for people. You might receive a letter box drop, check it out. Then of course there is Google.
Start by Googling “Home Based Business Opportunities” or “work from home”
(be careful of this one as some of them will be for JOBS rather than Businesses) add where you live, what product field you like (health products, personal development etc…). Basically whatever comes to your mind when you think of working from home and what it means for you. Read other peoples articles. Look through Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo.
At the end of the day there are as many ways to look as there are actual opportunities. ie. HUNDREDS!
You’re going to end up at a lot of home pages; you are going to get asked for your details at every turn; name, email, phone, country, income goal…
How do you decide what to do next?
By just looking at a page, you’ll get a gut feeling pretty quickly as to if you like someone’s style or not. If not, then leave. If you do, watch the video’s, listen to the audio, read what they’ve written. If you connect with what they are saying then fill in your details.
THIS IS IMPORTANT AND WOULD HAVE SAVED ME MONTHS OF RESEARCH!
- I never filled in my details and it slowed me down with no benefit at all.
- I was scared of filling in those little boxes.
- I didn’t want to be harassed and hard sold on something.
- I wanted to figure it out myself!
If you want to buy a car, you might start by doing a little research online. But the ONLY way you are going to decide if you like something or not, is by going to the dealer, talking about the car, taking it for a test drive, looking at the cost / finance options. Then you can make a really informed decision. If you don’t like the car, you say NO and you walk away. The salesman isn’t going to chase you down the street or coming knocking on your door in a week’s time… or least they shouldn’t.
I could have saved myself months of research if I had just filled in my details. You know what will happen if you fill in your details? Someone will contact you. Awesome! Now you’re talking to the “car dealer”. Guess what? If you don’t like them, you say “No Thanks” they take you off their list, you take them off your list and you move on.
If someone tries to hard sell you and that’s not what you want then don’t join them. Maybe you’re looking for someone with that sort of drive and strength behind them. Great, you’re now talking to them and getting further along in your quest.
I have no idea why I had this irrational fear that if I filled in my details I’d suddenly be inundated with people hassling or putting the hard sell on me and I’d end up with something I didn’t want.
If you are worried about this happening then put this note on the computer or near the phone;
“I will not commit to spending any money on the first phone call”
No legitimate Business Opportunity is ever so time conscious that you don’t have time to do a little more research or talk it over with someone else. Some Training opportunities in the future might be and you’ll have to become good at separating your emotions from your rational brain in those cases but that’s a lesson for another post. For now though, if you don’t want to make any rash decisions just stick to your commitment in the note.
One very powerful thing to keep in the back of your mind is this;
If you don’t want it or don’t like the person, it’s very easy to just say
NO
Then when you do find the right opportunity and say,
YES!
you’ll know you’ve made the right choice.
Now that we have armed you with knowledge and tools to find your perfect Home Based Business Opportunity. It is time for you to put them into practise. Before you go though, I would like to offer you a parting thought…
